Roly Poly

This baby has been rolling over for a few weeks now. One evening I went into his room to find him on his tummy. Broc said he wanted to do it in private, not to show off. Now it is the go to move. He sleeps and plays on his belly whether we like it or not.
Miles is a very cheerful baby and also a very curious one. If I am holding something, he wants to be holding it more. At this age, I remember Piper being a little more of an observer and a little less hands on. Also, she was a little more reserved when it came to giving out smiles. It's great fun to notice these subtle differences in their personalities.
I've given up grains, not for lent or anything. Also refined sugars and dairy. The muffins are made with almond flour, which I've really grown to enjoy over the last 15 days. What am I eating? Grass fed meats, eggs, vegetables galore, fruit, nuts and seeds, and a few other things as well. I never ever thought I could go without cheese for this long, but I don't even miss it. My goal is to avoid foods that are processed and to eat food that is wholesome. I'm not totally crazy. Once in awhile indulgences don't bother me, but for the most part this is what I am doing. I will let you know how it plays out. So far I feel more energetic (even though someone still wakes me up 4 times a night) and I fit into all my pre-Miles clothes. Yipee!

Singin' in the Rain

Piper and I relish at the chance to play in the rain. I'm fairly certain that I am still a child. It took everything in me not to push my daughter in a puddle and jump in it afterward. As you can see from subsequent entries, she doesn't take real well to messy surprises. By the way, Piper loves to sing Singin' in the Rain when she's in the shower, but this was even better. She even twirled her umbrella, my little Gene Kelly.

Scary String

This was an attempt to surprise Piper. We were pretty confident in thinking she would enjoy it. As you can see it backfired. She was rather freaked out by silly sting and needed to be briefed in advance. After we settled her down we let her silly sting her bike and her dad.

Love Day

This valentine's day we had heart shaped pizzas and ice cream sundaes with a few of our adopted kids. We have this great ministry in our church where families can adopt SCAD students due to the growing number. We have four lovely young ladies who come over every couple of weeks for a meal and usually some baked goods. Piper and I had fun making some rice crispy treats and chocolate dipped cookies for their valentine bags. I also found these cute (& FREE) printable
valentines. The internet can be a wonderful resource.
Piper has always loved crafts. I need some new ideas. Preferably cheap ones as Piper can clean out our craft cupboard in a few days time. Miles is as sweet as ever. He is getting pretty close to sitting up without support and he is so ready to begin rice cereal. Every time we are eating he stops what he is doing and focuses in on our mouths. The kid likes to eat! Happy belated valentine's day.

Sea World!

We are only 4 hours from Orlando so naturally when the military offered an all expenses paid trip to Sea World, we said saddle up! As someone who has not been to Sea World or anything quite like it, I was just as impressed as any small child. We were in awe of Shamu and his family, learning tricks like any old pup. We had a great weekend with our family of four. May I just say that I am so crazy about my husband and kids. Miles was so easy this weekend and Piper was delighted by every sea creature (especially baby dolphins). I truly enjoy being a parent alongside Broc. He's great.

FYI Broc and I agree that we can see Piper training whales some day.

Meet cat. I'm trying to use up all my fabric so I have a good excuse to get some new ones (:

tea & crumpets

This little hooligan is my favorite tea companion. While Miles was napping today we spent some time together. We sipped our tea and had a few tasty treats consisting of a Kashi bar and some tiny marshmallows for fun.

Piper wore this dress for almost the entire day. Check out those sleeves will you? She has about 5 dresses (all Christmas presents) that she wears in rotation. I don't know if we will have more children, nor how many if so, but I am grateful to have both a girl and boy. I imagine we'll be playing robots and cowboys in just a few years and I am up for the challenge.

Say a little prayer for our family if you will. We will soon have to decide whether or not there need be a career change. I expect God's provision in our lives, but it seems decisions need to be made soon. Peace and love.
