guess who's sitting

Surprise, it's Miles! He is still a little wobbly, but he can hold himself up for several seconds before loosing his confidence. This is such a great stage of his life.
We are going to be traveling on Easter day, so we may do some early egg coloring this weekend. I did a lot of cooking and baking today. At the beginning of every week I try to make some easy grab snacks and meals. I just have to share this recipe because these muffins are delicious and remind me a lot of scones. I added lemon peel, fresh lemon juice and replaced the vanilla with lemon extract. So good!

allow me

I'm making cabbage rolls in the crock pot today (I am still off the grains, so these are rice free). The whole house smells of deliciousness. I can hardly wait.

This little fellow is beyond grabby. He likes to assist me as I drink my water, talk on the telephone and even take a photo. There is nothing he won't try to help with if he is on my hip. Please Mom, allow me to assist you with you with my diaper. If only, right? Also, he's all about the feet these days. Built in fun!

Grandparents

Ed and Pam came to visit for the weekend. We had a relaxed time together and even squeezed in a few outings in Savannah. Piper is always glad to spend time with her family, but always exhausted afterward.

If exhaustion isn't enough, both Broc and Piper ended up with a nasty stomach bug early Monday morning. From 1am on, we were up at least every hour. Without getting into the gross details they were sick sick sick! Yesterday was a day of rest and recovery. The sick ones slept most of the day, while Miles and I did laundry and more laundry. I am so grateful that I was well enough to take care of my family and that the grandparents made it out healthy. What a weekend!

Roly Poly

This baby has been rolling over for a few weeks now. One evening I went into his room to find him on his tummy. Broc said he wanted to do it in private, not to show off. Now it is the go to move. He sleeps and plays on his belly whether we like it or not.
Miles is a very cheerful baby and also a very curious one. If I am holding something, he wants to be holding it more. At this age, I remember Piper being a little more of an observer and a little less hands on. Also, she was a little more reserved when it came to giving out smiles. It's great fun to notice these subtle differences in their personalities.
I've given up grains, not for lent or anything. Also refined sugars and dairy. The muffins are made with almond flour, which I've really grown to enjoy over the last 15 days. What am I eating? Grass fed meats, eggs, vegetables galore, fruit, nuts and seeds, and a few other things as well. I never ever thought I could go without cheese for this long, but I don't even miss it. My goal is to avoid foods that are processed and to eat food that is wholesome. I'm not totally crazy. Once in awhile indulgences don't bother me, but for the most part this is what I am doing. I will let you know how it plays out. So far I feel more energetic (even though someone still wakes me up 4 times a night) and I fit into all my pre-Miles clothes. Yipee!
