A cupcake in a jar you say?

A neighbor friend of mine had a birthday today, so we brought her a few cupcakes. This was the most fun I've ever had making cupcakes. As you can see the batter is such a vibrant reddish orange color. I will definitely be serving up jarred cupcakes in the future.

Here is a dress that I whipped up last night. Piper saw it this morning and said "Ooo dress." She likes it.

Piper has made a new friend, as have I. We have found a good bond with another family here and the great part is, they're also going to Savannah area in November. That's right, we already have friends and we haven't even moved yet! Ahead of the game. I hope everyone is well and having a good week. Happy Birthday Dad!

An Eventful Weekend

After Piper's peed my pants expression having seen Grandma & Grandpa come through the door, the first words were something like "have presents for me." Oh my.
Shortly after my in-laws arrived, Ed got to fixing our car and Pam got right to the entertaining. Broc and I on the other hand, put on our dancing shoes, for we had a Dining Out to attend. It was your typical formal event with a speech and a sit down meal. We left before the real party began on the dance floor.

Although the boys spent a major part of the weekend practicing mechanics, we had a nice time being with family. We even managed to squeeze in a soccer game (followed by ice cream of course).

A Breeze

It has been hot here, but the dripping sweat climate has finally broke. The past two weeks have been in the 80's, which feels cucumber cool in comparison. The very best part is the breezy winds and watching the beginnings of fall float away from the trees. Feels like I've been waiting a long time for summer to end, but here it is at last...

Broc graduates on November 5th, meaning we have very little time left here. I have nothing but utter elation for our move to Savannah. More then anything I am looking forward to the atmosphere (and maybe dining at Paula Deans restaurant at least once). Coffee shops, ocean air, bookstores, farmers markets, interesting sites and new places for Piper and I to walk. It may seem like small beans to some, but living on this post is like living on a waterless island that offers only a Walmart. It can be done, but it's not preferable. Savannah, here we come... in 2 months.

On a more recent note, we are taking a road trip this Labor Day weekend to visit friends Patty and Micah in Oklahoma. Thanks to God for long holiday weekends where we can spend time with people we care about.

And of course what would a blog be without a new photo or two.

not much to say

it's been a while since I've have had anything to say but i am back and with a vengeance... not really! I've been in school for just over a month now and it's busy, more to follow. But if nothing else this should keep you entertained until there is something worth while to let you all know about.

Where Patty Go?

My great friend Patty came to visit last week, while our husbands drove out to lovely Colorado for an outdoor adventure. Not to say we didn't have an adventure of our own, as life with Piper can so often be. Patty accompanied us to the St Louis Zoo, which was Piper's first zoo experience. We shared a few embarrassed laughs as we gradually realized it was mating season. Piper most enjoyed the big cats and the monkeys. Though she didn't have much interest in the zoo experience, it was worth visiting. We had nice weather all week, which took us to the local pool and spray park, where Piper overcame her fear of water shooting out of things. Though our guest has been gone for a few days now, Piper will still ask me with her palms up, "where Patty go?" Our friends shared with us exciting news of a bun in the oven, to which we say good work! We've been hoping Piper would meet her best friend someday.

Sponge Bob can save your life... more than once!

As many of you already know, i might be on the fringe of socially unacceptable, possibly a candidate for being committed.  And i would have to say that majority of it would be due to the cartoons and tv shows i watched as a child. Point in case, i wanted to be Murdock from the A-Team. But look at what type of model citizen they can turn you into now, and i'm not talking about being  multi linguistic Dora watching drone. We talking the good stuff that teaches you about the struggle of good and evil, about true friendship, about how to save lives... Sam and i air nothing but BOB in this house. take a look at this, and this! And that's no weak sauce, kids are stepping up to the plate thanks to Bob! Piper knows how to cook up Crappy Patties for the fam now, she has pushed me out of the way of speeding trucks, and she is strangely fascinated with squirrels and wants us to add one to our fish tank. So leave you with this, if we are going to let our tv teach us who we are to become, i say, let it be someone who isn't afraid of wearing square pants and be a little squishy!
