Oh the weather outside is frightful

Finally, a day worthy of winter coats and a steamy cup of coco. I will gladly embrace these cold days, for I know I'll be begging for them come summer. Broc heard news of a tree lighting on Hunter this evening. We attended the event thinking it would be fun, but Piper didn't have much interest in the whole ordeal.

This weekend we went to our neighbors art show. She is a potter, and a great one at that. I came home with a few of her creations. We are enjoying Savannah very much, but we are looking forward to spending Christmas at home.

Macarons

On this brisk December day Broc took his gals out on the town. We walked around Savannah in our light jackets, while others were bundled for a snow storm. I happened to spot a french restaurant, Papillote where they make fresh macarons daily. I couldn't resist the sweet temptation, so we took a few home for an after lunch treat. Broc decided he doesn't like pretentious french cookies, Piper wasn't quite sure, but I didn't mind... more for me. These are quite possibly the prettiest little cookies I have ever eaten.

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving with some of my family. Most of my relatives are originally from Michigan, but many of them have made their way to the south for one reason or another. It is not very often that we have the opportunity to see them, so it was a was very thankful day indeed.

I know this is a wee bit late, but here are a few of the many things that I am thankful for:

1. parents and siblings who care for us

2. a happy childhood

3. my once again pregnant sister (congratulations by the way)

4. a husband who loves me

5. Piper, who has brought us so much Joy

6. good friends

7. a roof over our heads

8. food on our table

9. a great place to live and explore

10. God, who loves more greatly then I can fathom

Forsyth Park

On our way home from church Sunday, we passed Forsyth Park. A few families had spread out blankets on the grass and played picnic, while others came to let their dogs or kids loose to run freely. This morning Piper and I jumped in the car for a whole 3 minute drive to Forsyth. It is a beautiful park indeed. 30 acres of green grass, playgrounds, a cafe (where they serve ice cream!) and of course history, as it was created in the 1840's.

This is a blog

Piper is anticipating giving someone a tour. She continues to tell us, "this is the shower... here is the refrigerator... that is a light." It's good word practice I suppose, but it's getting old. I know a window when I see a window kid, heck I told you that was a window.

We actually eat together in here, breakfast even. The amount of light that comes in is so refreshing.

Soon to be my craft room as well. It's nice and big with loads of natural light.

With Piper's play things in the same space, I'll be forced to clean up after myself, which is actually a good thing. I Can't wait to make some things.

Coffee and a Book Room

We've arrived! Though we haven't had much of a chance to scope it out, Savannah is lovely. Broc, who is very much attached to his Michigan roots, has already told me that he may want to stick around for awhile. Checking out more of Savannah is high on our list, but for now, we are cooped up inside gradually cleaning, unpacking and organizing. Who would have thought that this would be such a chore! We have only one room that feels complete enough to snap a photograph.

I call this room the Coffee and a Book Room (and maybe a little yoga).

Farewell

This will be the last post until we are in Savannah, and I can't wait to share that experience with everyone. Just 2 more days until we're on our way. Piper is making her rounds to her favorites playgrounds as we prepare to leave.

He's done it! Broc has successfully completed his training and is now a graduate of CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) BOLC (basic officer leadership couse) training. Try saying that 10 times fast! You can just see the ease of fulfillment on his face.

My favorite father-in-law is here, as he usually is when we have any sort of need. He has flown in to help us with this moving process, and we couldn't be more grateful! Piper is also glad to be spending some quality time with her Grandpa.
